Heather Stewart, Fundraising Consultant & Freelance Fundraiser

I established Activate Fundraising in August 2008 after over 14 years working as a professional fundraiser, successfully raising philanthropic income and sponsorship for arts & heritage, higher education, charities and the not-for-profit sector in the UK.

As a fundraising consultant and freelance fundraiser, I’ve worked with a range of clients on a variety of projects:

  • developing fundraising strategies;
  • carrying out fundraising healthchecks;
  • providing creative fundraising ideas;
  • managing projects;
  • training staff;
  • devising creative, targeted proposals.

And of course, most importantly, I’ve raised income from donors for clients too.

I am a specialist in major gift fundraising and sponsorship, most notably, establishing the exhibition sponsorship programme at the National Museums of Scotland, which doubled sponsorship revenue within two years.
